6 November 2024: One Home Journey South Africa, 2nd Earth Letter!

We have spent the last days in intensive integration of the extraordinary immersive experience of the One Home Journey’s first month, spanning Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Lesotho, and planning the next three countries of this first African season: Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.

Today, we take deep satisfaction in sharing with you the distillation of our immersion in SOUTH AFRICA. What uplifted us profoundly, in this challenging 30th year of South Africa’s freedom from Apartheid, is how against all odds, the spirit of Ubuntu continues to give rise to extraordinary initiatives of community entrepreneurship, collective leadership and Indigenous knowledge-based societal renewal.

Meet the inspiring DZOMO LA MUPO (Voice of Life) in Vendaland in the North of South Africa; encounter Ntate and Mama Mabena’s groundbreaking MOTHONG AFRICAN HERITAGE INITIATIVE; get fired up by KYP KLIPTOWN YOUTH PROGRAMME and their potent youth engagement initiatives in Kliptown, Soweto;  immerse yourself in MAKERS VALLEY, Johannesburg’s hub of social and creative enterprise; learn from and with SONNENGLAS, a vibrant social business model, innovatively advocating solar energy; and plant seeds with us in Ndawo Entle (Zulu for 'A Beautiful place that gives birth to love'), an urban Community Farm in the heart of Johannesburg, that now also hosts a UNITY PARK in South Africa.
