Today in Ayacucho, the extraordinary women-led ANFASEP – Asociación Nacional de Familiares de Secuestrados, Detenidos y Desaparecidos del Perú and the Museo de la Memoria were honoured as an Exemplary Home for Humanity, on the One Home Journey.

For 43 years, these courageous mothers have carried the memory of tens of thousands of Peru’s desaparecidos from the violent civil war of the 1980s and 1990s.
Mothers searching, marching, singing, and refusing to forget. Guardians of memory, justice, and human dignity — para que no se repita / So that it never happens again.
ANFASEP has significantly highlighted disappearances in Peru and advocated for victims' rights, gaining national and international recognition for promoting human rights and justice. They remain crucial in advocating for families affected by disappearances in Peru, reflecting ongoing struggles against political violence and human rights violations.
The One Home Journey honours their Vision: To continue tirelessly in the search for truth, justice, and reparation for all the relatives of the disappeared and those affected by the Internal Armed Conflict in Peru (1980 – 2000).
