Alexander Schieffer, a professor and co-founder of “Home for Humanity” and “One Home UnivEarthsity,” organizations dedicated to Earth’s regeneration and building a sustainable future, recently visited Japan with his wife, Dr. Rama Mani. As part of their “One Home Journey,” a seven-year mission starting in 2024 to visit all 195 countries and demonstrate the interconnectedness of humanity, they spent approximately a week in Japan, visiting regions including the Tokyo metropolitan area and Fuji City.

In Fuji City, the couple participated in the “Women’s Peace Dialogue” event, organized by Ms. Izumi Yamashita, where they engaged in discussions about regional peace and the role of women. The event gathered local women and children to openly discuss daily life, activities, and the challenges and initiatives necessary for women’s happiness and achieving a gender-equal society.

During their visit to Fuji City, Professor Schieffer and Dr. Mani paid a courtesy call to Mayor Yoshimasa Konagai, sharing insights into their activities and aspirations. Professor Schieffer expressed, “We are on a journey continually questioning how to overcome divisions and embody the oneness of Earth. We seek to discover and communicate what can be done for peace.” He added, “Japan is a special country with much wisdom regarding peace. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with the people of Fuji City.”

Dr. Mani remarked, “I have heard that Fuji City values peace. I hope to deepen our connection with the people of Fuji and that it becomes one of the hubs for realizing ‘One Earth’.” Mayor Konagai explained Fuji City’s initiatives toward peace and international exchange, stating, “I hope that through your remarkable journey, networks will expand, and the world will become connected as one.”
