BIO:

Born in Zarqa in 1959, Najjar received her master’s degree in transformative administration from the University of Buckingham in 2003. Najjar has been the general manager of the Ahliyyah School for Girls since 1994. She was also a member of the Greater Amman Municipality Council between 2007 and 2010, member of the Higher Youth Council between 2006 and 2008 and has been a member of the Economic and Social Council since 2009. She was also a member of the 25th, 26th and 27th Senates. She received the Order of Al Hussein for Distinguished Contributions in 2001 and the King Hussein Award for Academic Excellence in 2002. Since 2023, H.E. Haifa Najjar is the Minister of Culture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.


Internationally, Mrs. Najjar is an elected member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS).  She was an elected member of the IB Regional Heads Representative Committee (RHRC-IBO), the IB International Heads Representative Committee (IHRC-IBO), the IB Regional Advisory Committee (RAC-IBO), the IB Advisory Board for the International Directors (Heads Council-IB) and the IB Strategic Advisory Board for the Regional Directors (Regional Council-IB) (IBAEM Region).   She was also chairwoman of the Regional Heads Representative Committee (RHRC) from 2006-2007.


Mrs. Najjar has received many awards including the Founding Trustee Award presented by His Majesty King Abdullah II and King’s Academy in appreciation of her educational services, the Order of Civil Merit from His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain in recognition of her valuable contribution, role and efforts in promoting relations between the two kingdoms (June 2017),the French Order of the Légion d’Honneur by the Government of France (April, 2018), the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) Award for the Promotion of International Education, The Lanfranc Award for Education and Scholarship granted by The Archbishop of Canterbury (June 2017), the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East Shield for the continuous service, and Certificate of Honors from The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East.


Mrs. Najjar’s personal mission as an Arab is to empower both men and women, not just in Jordan but all over the world, to make a positive contribution to their communities, regions and ultimately to the whole world.
