Short Profile

The Mothong African Heritage project, initiated by Traditional Health Practitioner Mabena in 2001, transformed a former dumpsite and crime den into a sacred sanctuary. Guided by ancestral spirits, the project reclaimed the land, historically significant as a hiding place and interrogation site during apartheid. The initiative cleaned up the area, removed criminal elements, and established a house of healing, promoting sustainable development and honoring cultural heritage, turning a wasteland into a beacon of hope for Mamelodi Township.
